How It Works

Each Usage Boost is $5.99 and adds 100% to your V5 usage.

  • Purchased boosts go to your inventory. You can hold up to 4 at a time, so you’ll need to use one before buying another. Each boost expires one year after purchase.
  • Using a boost adds 100% to your Extra Usage bar, which is separate from your regular usage.
  • Your regular usage keeps recharging as normal. Boosts don’t replace or slow it down.
  • Your Extra Usage bar holds up to 400%.

How much Opus Usage can I stack?

With a full Extra Usage bar and full regular usage, you can have up to 500% V5 usage available at once: 400% from Extra Usage plus 100% from your regular recharge.

Does using a boost affect my regular recharge?

No. Your regular usage recharges the same way it always has: Understanding the Opus Usage Limit

When do boosts expire?

Your boost is valid for 1 year after purchase and you can check the expiration date at any time.

Which gets used first: my regular usage or my Extra Usage?

Your regular usage is always used first. Your Extra Usage only kicks in once your regular usage runs out.

How do I access my inventory and check expiration dates?

You can open your boost inventory from the hamburger menu in the image generation section of NovelAI. Each boost’s expiration date is listed there.

Can I use a boost if my Extra Usage is above 300%?

No. A boost can only be used when there’s room for the full 100%. For example, at 350% Extra Usage, you’d need to use up your regular usage first, then use 50% of your Extra Usage to bring it down to 300%. From there, you can use a boost to go back up to 400%.
