What took so long, and what happened to the old designs teased in the official NovelAI blog as well as the importable library API you showed off in the past? The earlier concepts for NovelAI Explore unfortunately proved difficult to implement within the constraints of our available time and resources, preventing those initial visions from coming to fruition.

Why is it launching for image generation only? Will text or scripting follow? Explore is about discovery, and right now that’s a visual experience first. Text is next on the horizon though as we plan to expand the platform over time.

Where are profiles and comments? Still below deck. We’re keeping this release focused, with more social features in development.

Why no Character Reference, Image-to-image, or Inpainting? These are harder to moderate and easier to misuse. You can’t generate without the original references used for those features, defeating the purpose of the platform, so we’ve kept them out of Explore.
